Malcolm McFarland Prize

The Malcolm McFarland Prize, to be awarded annually, is in memory of the late Malcolm McFarland, a UEA student from 1979 to 1981.

The value of the prize is £500 (except in the circumstances detailed below).

The prize shall be awarded on the recommendation of the Board of Examiners for the best performance in the final assessment by an undergraduate student registered for a degree programme which includes sociology as a major subject.  The courses currently eligible are ‘Society, Culture and Media’ and ‘Politics and Sociology of Contemporary Culture’.  Eligible courses will be re-assessed as new sociology related courses are introduced.

If two or more students are judged to be of equal merit, each shall receive a prize of £250.
