Successes: Joe Datt
In March 2008, a Panel consisting of Keith Nicholls, Director of the Sportspark, and Peter Earl, of The Peter Earl Foundation, recommended to the Foundation that the 2008 Sports Achievement Prize be awarded to Joe Datt, a 5th year student in the School of Medicine, Health Policy and Practice at UEA.
This is the first year of the prize and it has been awarded to Joe in recognition of his commitment to sport, not only in his own sporting successes, but through his use of every opportunity to promote sport to his fellow students. Joe has been instrumental in the setting up of new clubs and teams, including the UEA Medical School football club and the Women’s Medics football team, and a range of tournaments with other universities.
Joe has trained, played in and led teams, and has encouraged students and staff alike to take part, as well as achieving good sporting contacts and using those to the benefit of UEA students – such as the booking of professional football coaches to train UEA teams.
